Well I had the exact same problem with it on my mac book air. I kept opening it and it would keep saying 'verifying 'GTA 5'. When I went go to the bathroom it opened by it's self. I'm pretty sure this is dew to the large file sizes and it taking longer to work, as minecraft and league of legends verified almost instantly. Try resetting the Mac App Store.
